68 Tail light Help

I've just installed some new led tail lights in my camaro. Now I need some help, I've got the marker light and brake lights working. I can get the hazards to work but I have no turn signals ? I did install the flasher for the led lights . Very strange I would appreciate any help

Re: 68 Tail light Help

I'm guessing they worked before the conversion? Do the lights in the instrument cluster work for the directionals?

LED flasher have a good ground? Good power?
Might try a 552 (heavy duty) flasher.
As Jim asked, with hazards on, do the cluster indicators light?

Re: 68 Tail light Help

I had problems when I installed LED's in my 68. The Chevy sockets in the back were plastic with a ground strap built into the plastic. I found I was not getting a good ground. I bought Ford all metal sockets and installed, have not had any problems sense. The Ford socket is hard to get in but it will go in, stay in, and give you a solid ground. I just picked out one at the part store that looked about the same size as the Chevy plastic.

Re: 68 Tail light Help

I recently put LED's in my 68 and I have a painless wiring harness. I replaced both flashers with electronic units and found that the flashers worked but the turn signals did not. I had to make some jumpers so I could reverse the pins on the flasher unit and then it worked. Apparently they are polarized and will only work in one direction. I had to use the jumpers on the turn signals but not on the flashers, go figure. The electronic flashers need to be grounded.

Re: 68 Tail light Help

Thanks for all the help. I was fooling around with it again today and noticed that there was another flasher under the dash next to the ashtray. So now I have to get another flasher for that one I hope that fixes it !! I will keep you posted

I do not have this flasher. Hmmm? I'll be installing these as well in the future. Paint first so it could be a while!
