Problem finding a battery that fits.

When a battery goes bad in my farm equipment, I pull the battery from the Camaro, and it becomes a farm equipment battery. I then go buy a new battery for the Camaro. This way I always have a fresh clean battery in the Camaro. I have done this for years. I use group 24 batteries in everything and have never had a problem with a battery fitting in the Camaro until today.

I bought a new Napa group 24 battery. It had a big plastic handle and large plastic “ears” on the sides near the top for the handle to attach to. When I tried to put it in the in the Camaro the plastic ear hit the radiator. I went back into town looking for another battery. I went to O’Reilly’s and they had the same battery with the ears. I went to Auto Zone next and found the same thing. I believe all these batteries were made by Interstate. I gave up looking and went home. I trimmed off the offending protrusion and installed the battery.

I drove it for the first time in 1972 when I was 15.

Better looking than a '56 Ford or Plymouth.

Re: Problem finding a battery that fits.

Does that just trim off and not affect the case integrity?

I had to trim them off a NAPA one too, to get a battery topper on. The ears were there just to insert a handle strap.

Re: Problem finding a battery that fits.

Wait until they try to sell you a 24 series battery that has top posts that are centered in the case instead of being in the corners where they belong.....

The only reason someone would want insurance is if they want to pay someone elses bills or want someone else to pay their bills.
