Brake light switch has no power

I have a 68 and while driving today someone pulled up and told me that my brake lights were not working.
So I got home without being followed by a cop and checked it out.

What I have is, all of my lights work, tail, turn, headlights, parking, dash.

What does not work are my brake and emer. lights.

I have checked all bulbs and fuses. The only fuse that has no power to it at all is the little 1/2 fuse on the bottom left of the box. The words are gone on that part of the box so I don't know what that one does.
I checked for power to the brake light switch and there is none.

Please help if you can.

Re: Brake light switch has no power

Do you have a test light? Did you test both terminals on the switch and both sides of the fuse? Basically just work your way back toward the battery testing each connection to isolate the problem.

PS The little half fuse is the inst panel lights, and it doesn't get power until the park/head lights are on and the dimmer is turned up.

Re: Brake light switch has no power

The brake lights get power from the Stop/Haz 20 amp fuse. It should be the orange wire on the switch.

Re: Brake light switch has no power

Thanks, Found it. I checked everything and it turned out that the fuse was not getting good contact in the fuse box. When I checked the fuse with a test light I put it on the fuse end and not on the fuse clamp. Removed, cleaned and re-installed and all is well.

Thanks guys
