ignition issue

i have replaced my original wiring with the painless kit for my 69 camaro, other than pulling out the wires i have not touched any components. the biggest difference this time around is that i have added some electric fans so i had to wire those in. other than that everything should have been a direct replacement for the most part. the painless schematic and instructions seemed very easy and i followed them carefully. everything looks to be in the right place but i get absolutely no ignition. i noticed that when i put the key into the ignition switch my starter immediately engages after the ACC possition, when i turn the key further to the third possition on the switch the starter cuts off and i get nothing. once i release it and allow it to spring back, the starter re engages. i have been chasing my ignition issue for about 2 weeks now and im going backwards. im popping fuses and my lights are intermiten. the ignition wiring that came with painless kit came pre wired and plugged staright into steering column no problem. except for a few splices the wiring kit was a direct fit but im in a world of hurt now. anyone have any suggestions about my ignition switch issue. im sure i have tons of other issues but thats my biggest concern for now.
