69 Camaro Center Console Gauges

I am installing some OER center console gauges in my 69 camaro. I bought the center console wiring harness but not buy the wiring harness that goes from the center console to the main one since it was easier to wire it up instead of spending ~$100. I have two questions.

First, my fuel gauge is not reading correctly. I have the fuel gauge in the dash where the tach is on some. I wanted both fuel gauges to work so I spliced into the tan wire on the back of the fuel gauge in the dash with a scotch lock and ran that into the harness connection where the tan wire goes to the fuel gauge in the center console gauges. The fuel gauge in the dash reads correctly at 1/2 tank but the fuel gauge in the center console reads past full. Can someone help me figure this out? I tried searching but didn't find anything quite related to my scenario.

Secondly, when I bought the OER center console gauges they did not come with any instructions so I was wondering how the gauge cluster is mounted to the center console? I see the two posts in the front and two in the back but wasn't sure if a screw goes into them or a speed nut goes over them.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have 12volts on the pink wire on the fuel guage.

I didn't check that yet but when I had everything plugged in and hooked up all of the gauge lights lit up. So from that I'm assuming it has 12v

Sounds like the ground on the center pod is gone.
You remove the plate on the console and insert the gauge pack. Look at the AIM.

Re: 69 Camaro Center Console Gauges

Gray wire powers gauge lights with headlamp switch.
As suggested, pink wire supplies power for all gauges - from INSTrument fuse.
Once you get the second fuel gauge working, both will show half of the normal reading because the two gauges are in parallel, total resistance of both gauges together will be half - same as resistors in parallel - resistance always less than the smaller/smallest resistor.
So, chose one gauge to work.
The cluster will have stubs, If stubs have holes, then screws will hold it in place.
If no holes and stud size of a sheet metal screw, then speednuts.

Re: 69 Camaro Center Console Gauges

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure that you're right 69-pace on the ground. I didn't check since I just wanted to now have one gauge working instead of both from what Everett said.

And I was able to use some screws in the front of the gauge cluster to hold it in place.

Re: 69 Camaro Center Console Gauges

Yeah grounds are always an issue in first gens. I don't understand why you would want both fuel gauges to be working.

You should put in the tachometer and clock to be factory correct if using the console gauge set. But if you really want the dash pod fuel gauge to be active then I would disconnect the gauge pack fuel and low fuel warning module.
