z28 cluster wiring question

So I have a dumb question. I have a 86 IROC that had aftermarket gauges in it and I recently purchased a factory z28 cluster. When I removed the aftermarket stuff I realized that the guy cut the wires too close to the plug to reconnect. I got the plug ins from the new cluster. So my question is the wiring has multiple wires of the same color(like 4 pink with black lines on them so forth) does it matter how I hook up those wires as long as they're the same colors?

Re: z28 cluster wiring question

The wire depends on the intended function. If the pink wire is ignition power for each gauge, then yes, tie them together as each gauge gets ign power.
Check the dash wire for ign power of the same color to be sure.
Better still, get a Haynes manual for the car and check circuitry before doing anything.
Plus, the manual will be a good guide to follow.
