Unhappy Starting issues

I have a 69 camaro 350/th350. I recently put the motor and trans back in the car. Installed a mini hi torq starter and new flywheel. Also replaced the ignition tumbler as the old one didn't feel correct and was replacing the steer wheel anyway. The original shifter and neutral safety switch r gone and I have a B&M z gate shifter which has a backup light and neutral switch on the shifter. I have all 4 tires off the ground got the engine running when I realized the spedo was moving saw the shifter in drive i let off the gas and the car stalled. The gen light was on and the key was in the run position. Soon as I moved the shifter to N the car tried to start. I turned the key all the way to off. Put the car in park turned key to run gen light on and the starter began cranking with key in just the run position. Any ideas? Car doesn't have tilt wheel was originally a 6 cyl car. Only thing I can think of was maybe I got the wires on the starter mixed up or maybe something with the ignition switch on the steer column?

Re: Starting issues

Does anyone have a pic of the steering column unbolted showing how the ignition switch hooks up on a 69 and is there any adjustment that can be made to it or a way to test it? I started at the key/tumbler next item I think is the ign switch after that would be the purple wire from that going to either the NSS or the starter. totally confused...

Re: Starting issues

I think the issue maybe the micro switch on the top side of the column.
If u drop the column down...bolts either side of the u clamp to the dash....loosen off the trim around the column on the floor 1st...
there is a wire that goes down to a whitish plastic box with a micro switch in it...this has a couple small screws in to mount and in slots... it is very sensitive to adjust.
From memory ...I think you can pull or puss alittleon the wire to see if that is what is out of adjustment with the new tumbler/ ign switch.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative
