Rs headloght doors won't open after battery spark

So I was reconnecting my battery and accidentally touched the neg and pos with the wrench and sparked it. Now headlight doors will close, but they won't open when headlights turned on. If I push them open manually, they will close when I turn the headlights off. Maybe shorted out a relay?

Are they factory or aftermarket? Could be either the relay or the controller shorted out. Or diodes may have fried.

Re: Rs headloght doors won't open after battery spark

There is a tread right below yours where we have been discussing a very similar problem on original 67 systems.

https://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=205750

The easiest starting point (I think) would be to unplug your front headlights & put a little “jumper wire” in the light green wires to the tan wires, black is for ground.

Then try pulling the light switch & see if it corrects the problem, if not, check the under dash diode.

If the problem is NOT solved by one of the 2 things listed above, you will just have to keep doing searches on this site & try to trouble shoot &/or eliminate things as either good or bad in your system.

Re: Rs headloght doors won't open after battery spark

The open circuit is controlled by the light switch, the closing circuit by the ignition switch.

First thing I'd do is check to see if the diode is ok. If it is, I'd pull the relay board down and test them. All 3 are the same same you may be able to swap them and see if you can then make them open instead of close to determine if one is bad.

Thanks guys. They are aftermarket. I will start with the Relays.
