Flashing brake dummy light

67 Camaro.

Brake and running lights stopped working. Now the brake dummy light is blinking. Any info?

Fuse is good. 12.6v at panel.
Rear blinkers work also.

Re: Flashing brake dummy light

Brake warning light blinking? When? Brakes applied? Running lights meaning head and tail lights? Could be bad turn signal switch. Brake warning light is activated by either ground at parking brake or, switch in combo valve.

Re: Flashing brake dummy light

I agree with Chuck. Perhaps you have two diferent problems.High low beam switch on floor can kill running lights. Headlight switch could effect brake and running lights too. I would check parking light switch for blinling problem , or adjustment of brakelight switch for brake light prob. You should have a brake warning switch by the master cylinder. Can try jumper wires to find a bad switch.

Re: Flashing brake dummy light

Rear brake lights get power from fuse panel to brake switch at pedal to turn signal switch then out to the selected side. The bigger/top filament of the bulb is the turn signal/brake.
Turn signal switch, when selected, breaks the path of the brake bulb power and flasher power is applied from the flasher and fuse panel.
Tailights, the lower/smaller filament, get power from the headlamp switch, brown wire.
Both light functions require a good ground of the socket to bezel to body.

As said about BRAKE light, either the combo switch or the parking brake, and since you have no parking brake switch, read from another thread, and wire is dangling, or tied up, I believe this wire may be the problem. You could always unplug the combo switch to see if the flashing quits.
