'67 OER taillight nuts - what fits?!

Hey all. First of all, do ANY repro parts actually FIT? OK, rant off, now I feel a little better.

I have a pair of OER taillight housings for my '67. After manhandling the equally ill-fitting Dynacorn tailpanel where the lights fit and trimming the abysmal OER taillight gasket so the thing will fit, I realize that the stock-sized #14 PERI KEPS nuts, .69" outer diameter, don't fit the OER lights.

Anyone have an idea of what will fit, and where to source? I have tried 1/4-20 coarse locknuts with limited success. Limited as in it only bit enough on one post.

Help! Thanks...

Robert

I had no original nuts, but I do have a set of OEM housings and the nuts I got from AMK fir the originals but not the repros. The repros, well mine at least, have mounting shafts that are a lot skinnier than the OEMs.

Can you not find a good pair of used ones in good shape?

not any that I wanted to buy, no, not at the time. Most of the ones I saw were badly pitted. I picked up the OER lights several years ago.

I don't really understand the nomenclature of this nut - is there someone with more knowledge that can maybe tell me what 1 or 2 sizes smaller would be? I.e. a #16 or #18?

Re: '67 OER taillight nuts - what fits?!

Robert, I found some different sizes at the local auto body/paint store. They weren't the exact same size but did work... Then I found my original ones.

68 Camaro SS... getting there!!
