Key Minder ??

After putting all the wiring back together, my key minder stays on when the key is removed. It shuts off when the door is closed, so that (door) switch seems to be working. I don't remember if the key minder was hooked up when I disassembled car. I didn't disassemble the steering column. Since reassembly, I sprayed electric contact cleaner in the key hole and wiggled the key and lock around some, but to no avail.
Any thoughts? How hard is it to get the lock out or get to the mechanism?
Thanks,
John

Re: Key Minder ??

Did a search here for a recent post with details on how to replace the plastic tab the key touches in the cylinder.
Here is one with the part https://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=209461
Here is a like to Jim's article on the Corvette forum. http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/?p=661
and another on removing the switch https://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=48311
You should also try a good blast of compressed air down the cylinder as the tab may be activated by refuse stuck in the cylinder, compacted by the key.
Sounds like everything else is okay if it stopped with the door closed.

Thanks Brian! Some good info to help solve the problem.
It looks like your searching skills are more honed than mine.
I'll work on that too.

Re: Key Minder ??

Quite often a little graphite in the key way will fix it too.
