Park lights not on with headlights

I have a 67 Camaro. Was wondering if the park lights in the font grille are supposed to come with the headlights? They come on when the headlight switch is pulled halfway out, but go off hen I pull the switch all the way out.

Re: Park lights not on with headlights

If you would like the park lights to be on when the head lights are on you can pull the purple wire (park lights) from the back of the headlight switch and join it to the brown wire (tail light)

Actually, you just have to reassign (pull) one wire from the light switch to another position (plug).

Could you explain this? I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

Re: Park lights not on with headlights

I'd have to take my dash apart to spot the exact wire to pull (sorry the car is in use), but if yours is apart you'll notice that on the light switch there is an unused slot on the harness connector.

Separate the light harness connector from the light switch and you'll notice that the empty slot on the connector involves an unused connection tab on the light switch. This is the slot where you will plug in the wire that you pull.

I can't remember which wire or the color of the wire that gets pulled, but it's the one that lights the front parking lights. Obviously, it's one of the thinner wires and pick a color that somewhat matches the parking light's wiring.

When you find a candidate, depress the tab keeper on the wire terminal, eject the wire from the harness connector. Reform the tab keeper on the wire terminal so it will catch and hold in the harness connector. Plug it in the new slot. Put everything back together and give the switch a pull.
