Thumbs up Re: mech tells friend he has broken circuit board

Yes, there is a 'circuit board' (although technically it is really a Printed Wiring board ).
It is pretty primitive unit compared to what you'd find in a modern vehicle, but it does the same thing - pack a lot of connections in a fairly compact space.

There were numerous different designs and part numbers from GM depending on year and options.
Some are repopped and sold by the many restoration sellers.

Re: mech tells friend he has broken circuit board

I have successfully made some solder repairs where the connections have broken on the board. As you can see in Carl's picture the circuits are pretty big and not that hard to work with.

Re: mech tells friend he has broken circuit board

If you do repairs, etc. to the board....it's a good time to check the fuel gauge resistor. My was good for 40 yrs. +, then developed a hair line crack when I was messing with the board. Good time to replace the twist in bulbs too.
