brake lights stop working with turn signal on

I noticed on my 67 with my foot on the brake and both brake lights on, if i engage the turn signal either right or left and keep my foot on the brake, the brake light on the opposite side goes out until i cancel the turn signal. Is this normal or any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks

Re: brake lights stop working with turn signal on

Your symptom reads like the problem could be the turn signal switch.
Brake light power from the fuse panel to brake sw to turn signal switch to rear/front lights.

Select a turn, and turn signal power from the clip-on flasher enters the t/sig sw and lights flash Other side brake power should still go through the switch.

You might jiggle the t/sig sw handle as the handle is metal and heavy as gravity does its thing. Turn signal switch could be worn out as in the bushing the switch turns on.

Now that you mention it, the turn signals have been acting up lately. They don't self cancel in one direction and barely in the other. I'll replace the switch and see what happens. Thanks
