brake light switch problem

I have a 67 rs/ss and the brake light switch has power on both wires.i thought only one side was hot???anyway does anyone know where the brake light switch is being feed from?? thanks

One side is hot, orange wire, tied into from headlamp switch, orange wire, then from fuse panel.

If both sides are hot, then switch is not depressed to turn OFF lights - press in button.
Switch may need adjustment for pedal to close - push in button - turning off the brake lights.

Both sides can't be hot???? When switch is open then lights should come on right?? Thanks
