Wiring water pump and electric fan.. NEED HELP

Alright guys, I have a built 427 in my 67 Camaro. The fan im currently running is from a ford Taurus I believe and the electric water pump is a Meziere. I need help wiring both up to a switch. I have the relay wiring harness for the electric fan but I don't know too much about the water pump. Ive heard a lot of people wiring that to the ignition switch. Im running a MSD Ignition to a manual switch. Does the electric fan need a relay like the fan? The reason im redoing all this because they were both wired to a manual switch with no relay so it would burn the switch up fast. Any input is appreciated thanks guys!

I'd wire it to a relay. Simple, cheap and no point overtaxing your dash wiring. What does Meizere say?

It definitely needs a relay, figure any electric motor load or heavy eelectrical load requires a relay, or the switch or weakest link of the circuit will let the smoke out... which is bad.

You might also add some type of indicator lights to let you know you have power to the pump and fan. The activation switch for the relays may have lights in them but this only might indicate the switch is powered up and not the relay actually turning on.

Ok, so ill go ahead and order the water pump relay kit. Would it be ok if they both went to 1 switch or should I wire it to the ignition? People have told me to hook it up to the switch I have for the msd ignition.

If you already have one relay kit for one or the other, you can purchase and install just a relay for the second one and wire it to the same switch. The relays draw minimal current so no worries there.

The WP should run whenever the engine is running so it should be hooked to a relay triggered by ignition. I would not run it to a switch.

What are you using for a fan control or are you just going to turn it on and off manually?
