wire tach direct or filter it?

I have a 69 Camaro I am going to finally wire my tach

Some have said you need a filter of some sort between dist and tach others said no. Got the special harness from Ricks Camaro as well as the dash mount tach. It is where the gas gauge once was which moved to the old clock position(Till I find a console gauge set up I can afford)

So do I wire the tach direct or with some filter? I have a new Accel dist after taking my old MSD system off.

Re: wire tach direct or filter it?

If you are running factory points ignition, no filter. If you have upgraded to any kind of HEI system then more then likely you will need a filter for a factory style or OEM tachometer.

You can try without and see how your particular system behaves.

Re: wire tach direct or filter it?

This is the first I have heard that I would need a filter on my Tach. I am running a Pertronix Ignitor II. IS that why my tach is bouncing all over the place when I start it? I already had to run a direct wire from my fusebox to the coil, which I had to change as well from stock. 69 Z/28.

Grandma, 69.5, Z/28 Finally Done! Well almost...
