1967 ignition switch

So, I bought a replacement ignition switch to try and remedy my temp light problem and it fixed that problem. When I put the switch in the cranking position, my temp light now goes on as a bulb test. The problem that I am having now is that the threads on the outside of the new switch are horrible. They look tapered and my stock nut basically slides over them before catching any threads. I dont have this problem with the stock switch. Ive ordered a new nut already as the old one was in bad shape cosmetically but I dont think its gonna help me with this problem. The switch I bought was an airtex. It was 20 bucks. Aside from a new gm part can anyone recommend a brand that has good well defined threads? Wells, BWD, etc? Anything made in the US anymore?
