Guys i am installing the factory fit harness and i am a bit confused about the wiring. I tried to attach photo from my phone. Cant tell if it worked yet. My solenoid has three posts. One is wired to the starter, the other is grounded and the third WAS hooked up to battery via ford solenoid (i have removed that).
I know from reading that the yellow wire isnt needed since i have electronic points. It seems the purple wire should go on the post the battery wire attached to ( it is farthest from the block). My question is should both the battery and purple wire attach to the one post?
No. The solenoid on the starter should have a small terminal marked "S" (start). The 12 ga purple wire gets connected there. Pos batt cable to the big post. No "ground" wire to the solenoid that I've ever heard of - the starter gets its ground from being bolted to the block.

I see what hsppened. When the ford solenoid was wired up a black grounding cable was used and confused me. That was in fact the positive cable and the smaller post (only small one) will be the purple wire.
Thanks. It is a bit scary taking out all your wiring!! The aaw harness is great but they dont offer instructions for factory fit harnesses. 45 years of mods and splicing made the original totally different from the new one. There are still a few connections i dont know about.
