69 Harness Diagram - bulkhead backwards?

I'm slightly confused, when I look at the wiring diagram it shows the bulkhead flip-flopped. Isn't the tongue part on the right side facing the firewall and the groove side on the left?

Is the drawing incorrect as how it illustrates the bulkhead housing and are the wires correct? Hope this makes sense, I'm not that smart.

This was the other image. For some reason it wouldn't upload in the original post.

I'm going from memory ... I believe the wiring diagram you posted is the correct configuration. I think the other picture is incorrect as it is labeled as "Typical". IMHO it doesn't matter which is the tongue or groove they only fit together one way. It will begin to matter if you have an empty half and a bunch of loose wires.

Re: 69 Harness Diagram - bulkhead backwards?

Hi Mike and Jeff

I am presently going thru the same thing on my 69 SS/RS.

Fixing what wires needed from over the years of abuse and or upgrading to what I need for my Install – MSD 6AL Ignition and Distributor, Adding Classic Auto Air, “Lock up” switch for my 700R4 Trans Converter and so on. Both Dash harness and Engine Bay.

I have all of the AIM, Assembly Instruction Manuals, Wiring Diagrams and any Pic’s I can find on this subject and was stumped on this issue.

I Pinned and Unpinned until I finally decided to come up with something that works for me – I needed to wire it where if there is any problem, I can use the Wiring Schematic to troubleshoot/ Trace/ “Ring out” – Right ?

The “C” Connector goes over the 2 Tabs/Slots on the FWD side of the Fuse Box/ Wiring Block, that cannot change. It is towards the Engine. And the other Connector towards the Fender side.

What is shown on the Wiring Diagrams and that Drawn View (Fig. 12-25 Typical) as the “Engine Connector” and “Lighting Connector” are labeled in reverse.

View “A” is looking towards the rear of the Car so the “C” Connector will be towards the Engine. - I found the “C” Connector is for the Lighting and the smaller one is for the Engine/ Wiper circuits.

I also made this Excel Sheet to help me put everything together.
