Need Help Identifying a Part

So I'm in the middle of redoing all my gauges with a Dakota Digital dash/console kit and when I was removing the existing (and broken) speedometer cable I noticed a mysterious part. It was zip tied together with the speedometer just above the headers, however I either want to move it to a different spot or remove it if possible.

It is a little black box shaped thing, with a hose that goes up and tees into a hose between the distributor and carb. Other than that there are two electrical connection points, one which comes from the fuse panel, the other which heads to a ground at the front of the car.

I'll try to get a pic this afternoon and see if that helps, but in the meantime does anybody know what this is and if it can be removed?

Sounds like a vacuum switch of some sort. One use that comes to mind would be for the lockup circuit if you happen to have a 700r4 or 2004r transmission. WAG though.

Re: Need Help Identifying a Part

After reading the above and retracing the wiring this seems to be the case. I'm not sure why the ground wire goes all the way to the front of the car but I'll re-route that to a closer area in the future.

Thanks Al!
