Alternator Conversion from GM "SI" to GM "CS" internal regulator

Hello to all, I would like to know from all you smart people not like myself, lol. I have a 69 Camaro with a ZZ5 crate motor. It came with
a ac delco 105 amp alternator Series CS-130 which is a internal regulator type, part ACD # 321-464 . I'm putting in all the factory gauges. American
Autowire sent me a alternator conversion harness to convert the alternator
from "SI" to "CS" alternator, but the instructions says if your alternator does not contain a PLIS or PLUSE type voltage regulator DO NOT USE or alternator damage will result of improper connection. Can anyone please help me? Thank you in advance.

Give Mark a call and explain what your doing. I am going to a CS alternator and from what I remember and this may not be correct info but if the brown wire going to the alt gets power to it without a resistor it will damage it. He is pretty hard to get on the phone because of the business, but can "most" of the time I can get him in the late evening around 4.

Thank you Smitty68 & Carbuff67rs for the replies, I bought a complete wiring harness from American Auto Wire and I told them what I had and was doing. I will just call them to see what they have to say. I feel I really need to understand what I'm doing and why. Again thank you both for the help.

It's a simple as purchasing the AC Delco part #2145 adapter wire which adapts the stock wire from the SI to the new CS alternator. It's about 6" long with plugs on each end. You can't mix them up. If you have an indicator light or gauge in the car, order the non-resistor style. Otherwise, with no light or gauge use the resistor type built into the voltage sense wire. 30 second hookup

VetteFreak, can you post a link for where you bought the AC delco adapter? I searched on google and didn't find anything. Only found AC delco numbers 8077 (idiot light) and 8078 (gauges).

I have an extra SI to CS adapter from AAW, #37796 if you do need that one, let me know and you can have it for the cost of shipping to you. When I purchased my kit from AAW, I did not understand if I needed it or not also.

Apparently the Delco part# has changed...below is one link and just make sure of the alternator and application. Tuff Stuff Performance also carries them among other places...also need to confirm application.
