Tach not working

My tic-toc-tach is not working. When I bought the car the tach did not work. I did a complete rewire under the dash and under the hood with American Auotwire harnesses. The tach still does not work. Ignition system is the Lectric Limited brand electronic ignition with a Mallory coil and that works well. The tach will bounce once in a while. What should I look for to make this work?

Re: Tach not working

You have a few options but more than likely you need to pull it and send it to a quality speedometer shop for a rebuild/recalibration. If you are sure it is getting power and ground and there is a signal on the brown wire, then the unit is dead. You can pull it an run a new wire from the coil to see if the lead going though the bulkhead connector is bad.
