I think its fairly easy. The link below has all the instructions. Just pick your model.

Re: Flame-ThrowerŪ HEI III 4-Pin Module

Hey Kevin,

Thread is a few days old but I think I may be able to help in a few days...

I actually just ordered this module, $70 bucks for MSD and rev limiter is a pretty good deal IMHO. We will see how well it works.

When I get it installed next week, I will take pictures and let everyone know how it performs.

I am interested in how it will rev limit, cut spark entirely, to a few cyls... etc...

My pertronix HEI unit has been extremely temperamental over the years, so I hope this, and the new coil fixes the issue.

To my knowledge, this module is a brand new design. I called them personally as I am a little hesitant.

The only Mustang I'd ever own is a Fender.

Re: Flame-ThrowerŪ HEI III 4-Pin Module

Looks like I may be able to update tomorrow! Checked the order this morning, I ordered the part around 5pm yesterday, standard shipping, says to arrive tomorrow via FedEx.

I love summit. Can't wait to try out this new module.

Hopefully I can update tomorrow, I plan to install ASAP being I'm about to take about a 600mi round trip in the camaro. I guess it will also be a test of longevity.

Re: Flame-ThrowerŪ HEI III 4-Pin Module

Module and coil got here this morning.

Replaced module and coil per instructions... No spark whatsoever.

This distributor has done this a few times before... It gets power up to it, so something inside doesn't jive. Hopefully I can fix this issue soon as I intend to drive it across Texas on Friday being my almost brand new 2014 5.0 is having to get a new long block, thanks Ford!!!

Re: Flame-ThrowerŪ HEI III 4-Pin Module

Haven't forgot about this thread.

I had to order a new HEI distributor from pertronix, it got here last night, along with my completely smashed Griffin radiator (can't catch a break these days)

I plan to install the new distributor and HEI III tonight.

Re: Flame-ThrowerŪ HEI III 4-Pin Module

Well, here it is!

So far, it idles a TON smoother, it cranks immediately, and I do not have to warm it up by keeping my foot on the gas when cold.

I didn't hit the rev limiter as its idling for one, and I need to tune it. I'm afraid if it cuts spark and the a/f ratio is way off, it'll break a ring land or something.

Disregard my pitted steering wheel and sandals:

So far, for $70 bucks, I am very pleased. It's really good having this up and running again, especially after all the vehicle troubles I've been having.

Now the real test will be this 700mi round trip it is about to go on.

Installation is easy, make sure to use the silicon tube they give you, and make sure the module pins seat in to the base of the distributor, and re-install the screws with washers into the module as it's the only thing grounding the module.

Setting the rev limiter is pretty annoying, but for $70, you can't really complain. No big bulky box either.
