Fuel gauge light

I decide to go for a cruise tonight. I turn on the headlights/dash lights and only the fuel gauge is lit. I mess with the knob, etc and nothing. I go on the drive anyway. About two miles down the road the speedometer light comes on! What is a common culprit here? When I got home I turned off the switch and back on again..and it worked. Short?

Re: Fuel gauge light

I would check the ground on the gauge cluster first. if that don't work then try another switch
this is just my opinion only!

Re: Fuel gauge light

x2 Loose ground wire at dash connection and or a loose bulb in the speedo pod or broken filament in that bulb that reconnected as you hit a bump or something in the road. I assume the heater light was working as well?

Re: Fuel gauge light

Actually I don't remember if heater light was on or not. I'll look in there today. Where would I find the ground wire for speedometer? Black I assume, coming from speedometer?
