69 Camaro Optima battery mounting

Installing an 8002 Grp 34 Optima red top battery in a stock battery tray. They say to use the bottom spacer, but then the tray lip is too low to hook on the battery. Without the bottom spacer the tray lip works, but then the scew down clamp does not work as it is too high. Tried the red spacer they provided, but that does not work either. Other than fabricating my own screw clamp, is there a better solution? thanks

Every Optima I've seen for years now includes the correct hold down clamp and will fit the stock tray no problem.

Re: 69 Camaro Optima battery mounting

did you just use the original clamp? When I tried that, as I tightened up the screw the clamp side raised up off of the battery...
