Wiper motor switch operation

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my windshield wiper system. Can someone give me a rundown of the correct operation of the wiper switch?

I see it has three positions:

Left Center Right

And when the switch is in the center or right positions, I can push it in. I cannot push it in when it is far to the right.

And there is a spring action when I push it in.... it tends to pop back out.

I'm assuming:

Left : off
Center : Low
Right: High
Pushed in: Fluid

Strangely my switch only operates the motor when it is pushed in... so maybe my switch is bad?

Thanks,
Sal

Re: Wiper motor switch operation

Sal, you have a 69 I assume the wire colors are on my diagram you found. The way the washer worked, is when you push in the knob while in off, it actually slides to the right into low. But if you move it to low and nothing happens unless you push it, you have a mis-connected ground feed.
