I have a 1979 Camaro. If I turn the key on the on position I get current to the distributor, but when I turn the key the starter doesn't turn. I put the screwdriver from the positive to the solenoid and the starter turns. Do you think it's the ingition switch where the key goes or is it something else?
Do you have a neutral safety switch on the car? If it is bad the current from the ignition key switch will not make it to the starter. Try checking the voltage from the start side of the key switch to determine if it is the key switch. I am not familiar with your year Camaro, but it likely has several relays to go through prior to the starter.
