i have a '89 Camaro R/S, and a thin yellow ignition wire fell down from under the dash. it has 1 light blue end and 1 darker blue end. the light blue wire goes up past the stering column and plugs-in near @ the firewall.. it's not an alarm wire, because the car won't start unless it's pushed.. PLEASE HELP!!!

If its an auto-trans w/gearshift on the column, it sounds like it came off the neutral safety switch. This wire runs from there to the starter. Hope that helps.

Could you please clarify "Push it in"? Does the car crank when the key is turned? What do you do to this wire to get the engine to crank and start? It's possible it came from the back of the ignition switch itself. Let me know, it's got me wondering now too what it's off of. Is it possible something was changed/modified and this wire is not even needed?

the "yellow" wire could be the IDKEY chip identifier wire that goes to the key code reader in the steering column, I just replaced my lock assy on the 91 Fbird because of this , but I dont recall the wire coming from the dash, it came from the top of the column behind the tilt mechanism. I believe the 89 has the identakey mechanism too,

on the '89 camaro's there is a yellow wire that goes to the car security pass key module. it comes off the ignition switch an runs to the ecm. on my '89 iroc, the original owner replaced the ignition switch and bypassed the pass key module and left the wire hanging since it wasn't needed.
