Through the years I have seen this problem before. Why do the lights in the dash come on when I apply the brakes in my 69 Camaro? I have added extra grounds, still they come on when brakes are applied. The first time I ran into this problem was back in 1962. That time it was in a 54 Chevy pickup. Any ideas appreciated!!

Could it be a blown running light filiment that happened to fall on the brake light filiment. It could backfeed power to the dash lights/running lights?Do the side marker lights come on also?

Are you saying the running lights don't come on with the brake depressed?Since it's not the bulbs,I would buy a turn signal switch, and just plug it in,dont completely install it.If it doesn't fix it ,return it.

When I apply the brakes, the outside brake lights come on and so do the dash illumination bulbs-clock light, heater control light and dash lights.
