I need a new battery and am looking to save weight at the same time. I was going to get the Optima from Summit but just noticed in the new CHP a dry cell that weighs 13.5 lbs from D.U.I. for $155. That's about $26 more than the Optima for an additional weight savings of almost 20 lb. ANyone with experience or thoughts on dry cell technology and durability? It's not easy to save 27 lbs for $155!

Check the amp draw ratings. It really sucks to go out to the lake and listen to the radio for a while and then have no juice to start the engine. I saw that battery too and am curious how it holds up over long usage also.

What about using a marine battery?

I drive my car once every two or three weeks in the summer and it sits all winter (4 months) in storage. Marine batteries are meant to be treated like this. Has anyone uses a marine battery in a weekend worrier?

If you saw the Hot Rod TV coverage of Year Ones' Bristol Bash, you would have seen the Hemi Challenger with a 12.5 lb Dyna bat hidden inside a hollowed out oem type battery. If it'll crank a Hemi..............
