Disconnect the negative battery cable and the connectors on the regulator and alternator. Using an ohm meter check for continuity between the terminals on the regulator plug and the alternator plug. An open circuit indicates a break in the wire. Make sure the regulator is properly grounded to the chassis. This can be done by checking for continuity between the regulator housing and the negative battery cable. If all this checks out, reconnect everything and turn the key to the run position and see if the alt. light in the dash lights up. If it doesn't check the bulb and circuit between the regulator and the light. If all else fails try another regulator.
