I pulled the seats and counsel from my RS today as winter keeps the Camaro in the garage now till April.
Inside the counsel the wiring harness was not installed correctly and the orange wire and dark blue wire were welded together thru their coverings. The dark blue went to my temp guage and the orange went to the light at the rear of the consel by the ash tray.
What if any damage might have happened with this dead short?
Also, from up under the dash I found a clump of wires bundled together. A 3 way white plug and a single orange wire with a very odd end on it that was covered in black tape. Does anyone have any idea what these went to?
Isnt tearing apart a car fun? Always an adventure.

Click,
I believe that the orange wire with the hook on the end was for the optional glove box light. A while back I added underdash courtesy lights and the glove box light and found that same exact wire. I believe that when I looked up the wiring harness info, that wire was for the optional glove box light. Maybe someone can verify my info.
Eric.

Yep, that orange wire plugs into a slot on the glove box switch/socket.

sorry should have said, Orange, Yellow, blue are the wire colors. I saw the heater resist in my wiring diagram in assembly manual but not sure what that is?

This plug is under the dash near the cig. lighter. Where would it plug in? The heater resist shows it being under the hood near or in the blower housing. This plug would never reach that, it has to plug into something under the dash?

Sort of a light blue wire and not a dark blue? Guessing your car is a factory A/C car?? Sounds like the non-A/C blower resistor plug. A/C uses an option harness to pick up the relay and the under hood blower resistors. If so, tuck the interior connector back. It has no use.
*EDIT*
If I look at your profile I see A/C listed. I need to read things I guess.

I also just gutted the interior (to work n the floor pans)and had the gauge harness unplugged. While I was working under the dash, the orange wire that you are describing somehow also sorted out on the bare floorpan. Do not know how this could have happened when I had power when the harness was unplugged??? Anyway did not find any blown fuses so I guess I will find what damage (if any)when I put it back together.
