I have problem with the battery draining overnight. I found that if I unplugged the regulator the problem didn't occur. I also noticed that with the key off, the alternator field appears to stay energized. I was working around the alternator and found that my screw driver was attracted to the pulley, and it was warm to the touch. I don't believe this is normal. Both the alt and regulator are new. Any ideas ?
Just had this same thing happen on my 67 - same symptoms - turned out to be the alternator - old style externally regulated alternator - took alternator back to Advance and got a new one and working perfectly now.
