ok, if I ground a plug I can see it spark
there is fuel in the carb

if I flip the dist 180* it hiccups a tiny backfire

what gives?

I'm lost

8361 dist/ 6al/ blaster II coil

Does it crank then when you let go of the key it "pops" ?

I am gonna try to pull the dist out, find tdc (can't read my timing marks, guess I'll feel the piston top and look @ the rockers to figure it out)
and re-drop the little bugger and pray a lot too

I used a poor mans TDC stop. I removed all the plugs and stuck a piece of 1/4" soft copper tubing in the #1 spark plug hole. I turned the engine until it stopped and marked the dampener. Then I rotated the engine the opposite direction until it stopped and placed another mark. TDC was half way in between. I found my engine had a late model dampener on it and the factory mark was about 20* or so off.

Try bypassing the MSD to ensure it's a problem with the box and not somewhere else in the system. I have extra connections in my harness in case my MSD goes bad, it would be really easy to bypass and get home with the traditional setup.
