Question

Hey guys,

I am getting the complete harness from painless for my 69 along with the covan dash and gauges. My question is do I still need the wire harness from covan? It is sold separate from summit and I can save $139.95.

Thanks

I used the harness because I hate wiring. I don't think you need the harness, but it does make installation easier. I have the factory wiring, so it made it much easier for me. I still had to splice into the factory wiring even with the harness. But it does have its advantages. Instead of having separate grounds for all the gauges, I think you only have two. Also if you need to remove the dash, all you have to do is unscrew the two grounds and two connectors. Good luck.

Thanks Den,

Anyone else have a comment please as I am trying to shave some $ off my rather large list of parts. I don't mind some extra work with the wiring, just know if the $139.95 is worth it?

thanks

I asked the same question about the extra coinage for the harness.

I would say yes, it's worth it, especially if you get the gauges from Covan. They differ slightly from the "normal" Autometer gauges (terminal ends)

I'll be using mechanical 2 5/8 gauges under the dash above the trans tunnel, (no console) as well as the Covan cluster.

Nice OEM quality stuff here. Very complete, and easy to wire. This is what's included in the harnesses.
