The last owner of my car said that the headlight motors were burnt out, for the last many years, so I was about to order a new pair, but decided to test them. My wiring is a mess and I am in the process of putting in a new one, but I wanted to see now about the notors. I wired 2 6 volt lantern batteries in series and plugged it into my motor plugs and wallah....they open, and when I reverse polarity, they close....just saved me about 200 bucks. Upon further inspection one is a replacement motor, but the other looks original...I think, the motor casing itself is twice the size of the other...and just looks older. Is there anything to help older electric motors? like spray them with a cleaner? Are the motor gearboxes able to be opened and relubed? now just to finish the harness install.
There's nothing like standing below one while it's raining spent casings all around. Unless you're the gunner I suppose. Sitting in the video trailer while the pilots are getting critiqued and seeing trees splinter into dust.... ahhhhh, what fun!
