Hi all, hope you are having Happy Holidays this year!

I have a question about the way the wires from the horn shroud on the standard SS steering wheel connects to the horn contact on a tilt column on a '69. I recently installed the tilt column that came with the Z-11 I purchased earlier this year. When I went to connect the wires from the horn buttons on the shroud, the nylon keeper that holds the wire contact in place against the spring in the horn contact would not stay in place since it is different.

I want to make sure that the tilt column I have has the correct horn contact in it before I get the right nylon keeper for it. The standard column that was in the car has a nylon keeper that has a small ridge around the middle which snaps in place. The tilt column horn contact has a small (about 1/16") slot that goes down about 3/8" vertical then turns horizontal.

Is this the right horn contact for a '69 tilt column?

If so, the only place I have been able to find that say they have the correct nylon keeper(needs to have a small tit sticking out of the side) is Rick's. Rick's track record with me is less than 100%, so I question if this is the right one. Rick's part number is HR-18.

Anyone have any feedback on this?

Thanks,

Bruce

Hey, any body out there?

I thought I would get some response from this forum.

Did I post this in the right place?

Hey Bruce, attendance been down due to the holidays, and tilt columns are rare... You might try posting a link to this thread in "restoration" Those guys know a lot of this, and may not have seen it here.

I believe that is what you need, I just thought that the wiring was hooked up to the pin and you put it in and turned it to keep it in place.

I have never had a problem with Rick's

Just wnted let everybody know that I ordered the pin/spring kit from Rick's and it worked great.

Conversion from a standard column to tilt successfully completed!

It is going to be a great year!
