I have 68 camaro i put a hei dist. in it and took the resister wire out and put a ten gauge wire in but still want start with the key. I have a black wire coming out of the harness where do it go? And a yellow wire coming from near the starter where do it go ? PLEASE HELP

Hi dill! it sounds like you have connected the black wire to acc,ignition.You have to change it to cranking ignition, that means while you crank the eng,the wire has power!The yellow wire that comes back from the starter you can use that instead of the black wire and thats all you need. Mr Nick

Yellow wire from the solenoid "R" terminal isn't needed on HEI. It can be removed or taped off.

dill sorry man the yellow wire, it will not do the job.Use the black just connected to the cranking ignition and it will be fine.Nick

ok the yellow wire is not needed but the black wire thats coming out of the harness what does it hook to?

Can't see its gage and length from here. A long wire, small gage? Perhaps it's the wire from the horn button that runs down to the horn relay on the core support near the radiator.
If the car still isn't starting:
Did you plug the 10 gage wire into the BAT terminal and not the TACH terminal on the HEI?
If you did, unplug the 10 gage BAT wire. Turn the key to ON. Measure that wire to ground. Should have 12 volts.

dill the only black wire on that harness is the one going to the wiper motor.It has a singel connector plug.I'll try scanning my manual I hope it works. lll~'lrl~lll~liy ASSEMBLY INSTR U CTIONS 3891775 "F" CAR 12000 SERIES

If the harnesses are the same for '68 and '69, I can scan and post the page(s) from my '69 assembly manual or service manual. Just let me know what page to look for.
