I inquired about one of the fancy alternator brackets as shown in the alternator swap article in tech reference. GM wants $81

The article said these were an early 80s style vette bracket. Anyone know any specifics about which vehicles to look for that might have this same style bracket. I'm ready to go trudging through the mud at the salvage yard. There aren't too many corvettes in the yard.

gmpartsdirect.com $55.88 delivered.

GM part number 14015510

Try taking a copy of the gmpartsdirect.com order sheet that lists the price and shipping to your GM dealer. They may be willing to give you a break from the list price.

The bracket is from an early 1980's C3 'Vette with a small block with short waterpump. There are two versions installed, cast iron and aluminum.

If you find one in the junkuyard take the upper brace as well since the replacement part requires fabrication.

Thanks Carl. $52 is more in line with what I expected to pay although $40 would be even better. I'll take your advice and let you know how it works out.
