I plan on getting a new engine and dash wiring harness for my 67. The only problem is that my car now has autometer mechanical gauges and an autometer 5" in dash speedo and tach not the factory idiot lights. I want to buy new harnesses but I don't know if I like the idea of the wiring for the original electrical system just hanging there. Will these unused wires pose a problem or cause some type of electrical drain? For those of you that have a similar setup to mine, what did you do? If you guys could help me out that'd be great. Thanks.

My setup sounds very similar to yours. Just leave off the factory idiot light connections at the engine (oil pressure, temp etc.) and you should be fine. Tie them up to the harness and forget about them.

M & H wiring should be able to customize the new harnesses. Give them a call. They're not that far away.
