I own a 2001 Camaro and my right low beam light has gone out. The bulb is fine but the connector it plugs into has like melted. The auto parts store doesn't know what it is and neither does the salvage yard. What is it? How can i replace it?

This seems to be a problem with late models, what happens is the metal connector inside the plastic is loose causing arching and then of course it melts over time from the heat. Seems worse with higher wattage bulbs also, the cure is to replace the pigtail with a new one, then check it freqently for looseness, if it seems loose use a small electricans straightslot screwdriver to gently bent the tang inside the metal connector to make it tighten up. That said I stlll overheat mine once in a wile & end up replacing them. The quality of the wireing is not very good from the OEM's nowadays.
