I was in the process of trying to ressurect my backup lights on my 68 396 4 speed(with console gauges). The backup switch was on the tranny but the wires were cut off. I found the two wires (pink and lt green) in the console harness. The connector was cut off. I noticed two console light sockets that were neatly taped up in the bundle. I think these are for the lighting of an automatic shift plate. I thought this car was a factory 4 speed? Does anyone know if the same console harness was used on both manual and auto trans? Also, where were the backup switch wires routed? In the assy manual it looks like they run up the trans tunnel and come in through a hole in the firewall. It seems like a long way to go.

the connector i'm referring to is the one that plugs directly into the back of the gauge cluster for the dash.
