I answered the ammeter question (I hope) in your other post. Now for the temp gauge:
I don't really know what's up with your temp gauge without seeing it, but here's a "basics" answer.
1. You temp gauge has two blades on the back of it...one wants 12 v of power from a switched source, the other is seeking info from your temp sending unit (one designed for a GAUGE, not an idiot light). Make sure the gauge pod is grounded, with a grounding bridge wire between the two pairs of gauges.
There are lots of posts regarding these gauges, use the search feature and you might just get lucky.
