Anyone know for sure when GM switched from the top post battery to the side post during the '69 model year? My Z/28 is a first week of May car, and I wasn't sure which battery is correct. The AIM shows both, but didn't really indicate when the change was made. Thanks.

I don't think there was an actual change over. I think they just put in whatever Delco supplied them with. My 69 Z came with a Y55. Thats only about 450 cca, not exactly heavy duty. GM was still putting top post batteries in on the assembly line as late as 1973 on Venturas.

The only reason someone would want insurance is if they want to pay someone elses bills or want someone else to pay their bills.

I'm pretty sure that McNeish addresses that issue in his book....
