Need to know- does the neutral switch in an automatic trans receive it power supply for the Back UP Lights from the headlight Switch?? Using a direct power supply to the connection there, my backup lights work . Neutral switch is new BUT tracing the wiring back from switch connector , it shows the brown wire feeding back to the headlight switch?

FORGOT to mention this Backup Light problem is in my 1967 Camaro !

Yes, comes from the ignition switch thru the Instrument Panel Light circuit (second fuse from the bottom on the fuse panel). B/U lights are only able to be turned on with the key in the run position.

Neutral Safety switch only has power with the Key in Start.

Have tried all this with ignyion on & even with car running & shifter in reverse. No lightsin backup ?

Is it the origional backup switch, or a nuetral saftey switch?

Assuming that you've got a console and its out of the way, or at least the indicator plate is removed. Either back your car up to the garage door or close it if the car's in it. Turn ignition to run and slide the shifter back to reverse and a bit past while looking into the rearview mirror. See if you lights come on at all. If so, you'll have to manipulate the tang on the shifter to a new position that correlates to the reverse lights working. But first check that there is power to the leads that go to the switch dependent on which switch you have.

The 67 Camaro has the powerglide / console with the neutral safety switch.There appears to be NO power running to the Neutral safety switch for the backup lead wire.The lights do work as we ran a live lead from another source to the connector at the switch which runs to the backup lights.

Well if you go by the schematic for it coming out of a chiltons manual. there should be a pink wire which is hot in run or accessory from a fuse to the back up switch. from the back up switch to the lights via a green wire. Origional 67's had back up switches and not neutral safety switches. those werent used til the 68 model. Your neutral safety switch should still go by this. Trace back the pink to the fuse block.
