One of the wires a 14 Ga. black, goes to the power terminal behind the battery, the other a 14 Ga. black with a white stripe goes to the large power lead that comes off the alternator, but it connects near the voltage regulator. The amperage is not really flowing through this gauge, it measures the differential to show a charge or drain on the battery. I would only hook this up if you want the authenticity of real factory gauges. A volt meter is better and safer to hook up.
