We just pull the fuse in the Lumina's we use at our Sheriff's office. Works for us and not much trouble to replace them when we want the lights back.

it's a good idea, but the lumina fuse setup must be different. i've tried pulling all the fuses associated with the DRL's (daytime running lamps), but i always lose something i need (like brake lamps, tail lights, etc. don't want to get pulled over by you for no stop lamps!) any other ideas?

just remove the emergency brake switch that controls the light on the dash. When you put the emergency brake on the lights should go out. So just remove the switch and you get the same results. You may be annoyed by the red light on the dash though but just pop it out too.

I too have the auto lights on my 99 silverado, you are talking about the headlights themselves and not the DRL RIGHT? I tinted the windows of my cab and now the senors always thinks it is night out and turns on the lights, hate it, want to diable it?

as far as the 99 silverado, my friend has the same truck. there's a button called "dome override" that you can push 4 times, either before or after (i don't remember) you start the truck and it will disable the auto headlights. just play around with that button, you should be able to make it work. my camaro has no dome override button....

We have a 2000 Z28 and all you have to do is pull the parking brake up 1 click before you start the car and no lights will come on unless you turn them on.

From looking at your wiring diagram, I think all you need to do is unplug the ambient light sensor. Hope this helps, but it might require a little work to get to.
