I have an Exide pile of sh-- $39 battery. Under the plastic covers ,over the water, it seeems to collect under there. I was told by a grease monkey that that the small thin canals on the top of the battery is for it to drain! I bought the battery only last year - I didn't know that batteries **** from time to time????? Had the charging system checked it was 14.? v across- all was OK. It happens occaisionally. Very hot days / long rides.I refuse to have a battery eat eat up the paint in that area. Seen too many nice cars with crude underneath because of the battery. I already did the battery mat.The Interstate battery before had larger plastic covers over the water-it never pissed me off like this one does, except when it died -it did last a very long time.
I am getting tired of opening my hood & sticking my nose around a battery ; of all things. Also I refuse to go with a an internal volt reg. Am I sh-- out of luck or do I go an buy a maint free Delco or Die-Hard. Thank you for your feedback -this is an excellant forum w/ obviously good people out there.

Or you can try an Optima and never have to worry about acid.

thanks for the feed back fellas . Had the system checked again today nothing more than 14 down in the 12 & 13 most of the times. Go to Sears hard to beat the $9.95 price.
