My second problem concerns the dash clock. It used to work, but only rarely. I took it out to get it fixed and found a clock repair sticker on it (they are still in business and advertise in Hemmings)so I know it has already been to the shop. Maybe they did not fix the problem (I will try hooking it up directly to 12 volts tomorrow). The thing I do not understand is the plug is giving 12 volts w/ the ignition on and 0 when it is off. Now the dumb question, this should always have 12 volts right ( I am assuming the clock has no capacitor to keep it powered). Is as simple as somebody wiring it to a switched power source instead of a "live" power source. Thanks!!

If I remember, they use some kind of a thermal spring or something that will wind when voltage is applied then run off of the spring while the power is off until voltage is applied again.

It should have 12 volts all the time. The clock has "points" inside that wind a spring.
Every 2 minutes or so, the points close and re-wind the spring....

Ok. I was close anyway! Now that you mention it I do remember seeing the points. When I get around to it Iíll have mine converted to a quartz movement.
